There's been a rumor that Ragnarok Online II is coming soon here in the philippines. Im looking forward on it since im an Ragnarok avid fan im really looking forward on its launch here in the philippines for more information on the Ragnarok Online II heres a little info about it.
Ragnarok Online II: The Gate of the World is the long-awaited sequel to the popular Ragnarok Online. Both games are developed by Gravity Corp, a Korean-based company with branches in the United States and other countries around the world.
The game's story and name are based on Norse mythology; Ragnarok being the battle at the end of the world. Major figures of Norse mythology (such as the gods Odin and Loki) are prominent within the game, and many of the towns and locations make references to the mythology. Despite this, the story in the game is somewhat lacking.
Ragnarok Online has been a popular MMORPG for several years now, its cute 2D characters rendered in a 3D world being a different flavour amongst the sea of generic MMOs. Its unique game style and graphics have been a major drawing card for many players, although the game's constant grind mentality left more to be desired. Features such as the War of Emperium have been hugely popular with players, where in frantic guild versus guild battles, players attempt to take over a castle in order to gain access to special dungeons and treasure. Over the course of the years, the game has seen new classes, towns and maps added, along with added challenges in the form of dungeons and boss monsters (known in Ragnarok Online as MvPs).
After four years of Ragnarok Online, the folks at Gravity Corp unveiled the sequel to their popular MMO at the Tokyo Game Show in September 2005. Boasting fully integrated 3D graphics, new races, classes and gameplay, the sequel expects to begin closed Korean beta in late 2006.
The Story:
The Story Thus Far
The story of Ro2 takes place after the events in Ro1. A great destruction has befallen the old realm of the humans, though this exact event is uncertain. With the help of the wise Lif and Baldur, the son of Odin, the human ones escaped this destruction. They fled to the northern part of the continent to Alfheim, where the Ellr live in peace. The Ellr provide them shelter, and it is here that the Normans begin to develop once more.
With the Normans follow the human instinct for battle. Small skirmishes are fought, but the Ellr, who maintain the peace in the world, stop the battles. Forced to leave Alfheim, they move back to their native land. In this land, there is a great tree called the Tree of Life. Before long, all the Ellr had disappeared from the world. For seemingly no reason, the Life Tree suddenly died. With their tree dead, the Ellr are forced to leave their land once more and venture back into the land with the other races.
Meanwhile, the Dimago are lost in a deep sleep or trance of some sort. Suddenly, and without warning or reason, they are released from this sleep. With no home or place to go, they begin to wander the continent in endless torment.
Fortunate Days
The following is a partial translation of the story posted on the official Korean RO2 site, titled Fortunate Days. All pages were translated by Athena. All pages were edited by Phlogistic. A large amount of time and effort went into these translations, so please do not use them without permission.
Gravity has confirmed that this story doesn't have any direct relation to RO2's story, and so we have discontinued translating it, but the first three sections are still available to read.
The Races:
Norman :
» Has a human appearance. Basically, the same race we played with in the first RO.
» Can "evolve" into a second job. We're expecting this to be similar as the secondary class system in the original RO: ie, the alcolyte evolving into a priest.
» Can make use of a job change system, in which there's a way to change your character's class several times over.
» Aimed to appeal to "bored" gamers.
Ellr:
» The half-breed of Normans and Dimagos; they basically look like "chibi" (super-deformed) elves.
» Posesses a unique spell-cast system.
» Uses various spells and tactics in battle.
» Aimed to appeal to Asian gamers.
Dimago:
» 7~8 heads tall
» They fight with style.
» Able to make use of dynamic skill trees.
» Aimed to appeal to Western gamers.
Now im getting excited launching it here in the philippines. But i hope level up would make this game free 2 play.
